The spokeperson of the Nigerian Military has refuted the widely circulated report that “Militants Blew up Pipeline After Osinbajo Visit” on 17th January 2017, in Ughelli, Delta State, allegedly in defiance of the efforts of the Federal Government at addressing issues in that region.
The fire incident was attributed to bush burning which affected the exposed pipelines. The inferno has since been brought under control in a swift response by the emergency response team.
In his words "I am to once again appeal to media practitioners who are also stakeholders in nation building to properly verify issues of defence and security matter especially as it affects the economic security of our nation before going to press to avoid causing unnecessary apprehension among the populace" .
